As a Director of Photography I have experience working primarily in Feature and Short Films shot on a variety of formats including High Definition and 16mm with my work being accepted into international film festivals and broadcast on music channels.
I studied cinematography at The Arts University College and Bournemouth, primarily working on 16mm in a mixture of studio and location environments for fiction shorts alongside working on documentaries. Towards the end of my second year I got tired of the red tape that the university offered and focused my efforts on the practical projects at university and gaining experience on professional sets over the academic work we were assigned.
The majority of my craft comes from working under more experienced cinematographers as either a spark or gaffer, observing their techniques and use of light and applying them to my own work that I intergrate with my own ideas and experience.
I see my job as being the creation of a story rather than a set of images, and always strive to tell a story through my cinematography, lighting for the characters state of mind and the story rather than the practicalities of the location where possible. I also try to move as fast as possible, working to the pace of the schedule.

When working on solid state formats, I come with a macbook pro complete with Final Cut Studio, the full Adobe Master Collection and a 1TB hard drive to allow for instant rushes review and assembly on set by the DIT, along with storing a backup of the rushes for a nominal fee if required.
Unfortunately, due to distribution deals, I do not yet have access to enough material to compile a showreel which I feel is reflective of my ability, however a number of projects are viewable from the 'Recent Work' page, and full length copies of my work are available upon request.
